Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Keperawatan Malang (JKM, or Nursing Journal of Malang) must follow focus, scope, and author guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must address scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope. All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Keperawatan Malang (JKM, or Nursing Journal of Malang) must be original work and free from plagiarism contents. A submitted manuscript that is found to contain double submission will be rejected. JKM implements a review process policy as follows:
Submission. Manuscripts sent by author will go through a review process by the chief editor, especially checking the suitability of the manuscript with the scope of the journal and compliance with the Journal template. In this process, the chief editor will establish communication with the author so that the manuscript is worth sending to the Reviewer or even returned/declined. The author(s) has 7-10 days waiting period on the first article submission.
Peer-review. If the manuscript passes the first stage, it will be assigned to a section editor. The section editor will review it for novelty, objectivity, methods, scientific impact, conclusions, and references. If the article is accepted, the section editor will send the manuscript to 2 reviewers for content review using the double-blind peer review method. Normally, this stage will take 14-21 days.
Editor’s Decision. The editor's decision regarding the manuscript will only be made after the editor receives the review report from the reviewer. If there are significant disagreements in the review report, the section editor will invite the chief editor for a discussion before making a decision. At this stage the manuscript may be rejected, accepted with minor/major corrections. Accepted manuscripts will be returned to the author for revision. The editors take 3-7 days to provide a decision.
Revision. A manuscript that requires revisions will be returned to the author. Author(s) will be given 7-14 days to revise the manuscript. Furthermore, the manuscript will be reviewed by the section editor. The section editor will determine whether the changes are sufficient and appropriate, as well as whether the author(s) sufficiently responded to the reviewers' comments and suggestions. If the revision is deemed not sufficient, this cycle will be repeated (the manuscript will be returned to the submitting author once more for further revision).
Proofreading. Afterward, the manuscript will be sent by the section editor to the copyeditor for layout correction and checking vocabulary, grammar, and language usage. Then, it will proceed to the proofreading stage where the author(s) will correct the overall suitability of the manuscript (title, author identity, and content). After the author confirms the suitability of the manuscript, the manuscript must be tested for similarity with an acceptable result of < 15%. If the similarity test result is > 15%, the author(s) is required to paraphrase until the similarity test result is within the limit. Author must send the paraphrased manuscript and similarity test results to the JKM account.
Final Decision. Before proceeding to the publishing stage, the section editor will re-check the manuscript to ensure that the similarity test results in the article at the proofreading stage are < 15% and/or there are indications of manipulation of the similarity test results. If it is appropriate, the article will be forwarded to the publishing stage.
Publishing. Manuscripts that have been proofread will proceed to the production stage for the publishing process and DOI numbering.
