Author Guidelines
1. General Guidelines
Jurnal Keperawatan Malang (JKM, or Nursing Journal of Malang) is a journal published by School of Health Sciences (STIKes) Panti Waluya Malang. JKM publishes twice a year (in June and December) accepting articles in the fields of nursing, psychiatric nursing, community nursing, family nursing, critical care nursing, emergency nursing, pediatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, pedagogic nursing, maternity nursing, gerontic nursing, nursing management with the standard of research method for publication. These articles can be written by researchers, academics, and nurse practitioners who are interested in conducting research in the field of nursing. All manuscripts should be submitted online at https://jurnal.stikespantiwaluya.ac.id/index.php/JPW
a. Submission Preparation Checklist
- The submitted paper has not been published and is not being considered for publication in another journal.
- The format of your article must follow the scope and template provided.
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word DOC file format.
- The similarity test result must be < 15% (Turnitin after proofreading).
- All authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript and are responsible for its content.
- The author agrees to follow the entire editing process or notify the editor for withdrawal.

2. Manuscript Guidelines
a. Title Page
- Concise and clear
- Informative and specific
- Engaging but not misleading
- Include key terms
- Avoid redundancy and questions
- No undefined acronyms/abbreviations
- Reflect the scope of the study
b. Abstract
Written clearly, max 250 words, includes: background, objectives, methods, results, implications, and keywords.
c. Introduction
10-15% of the article. Contains background, theory, reasons, and objectives. Use surname and year for citations (no page numbers).
d. Methods
5-10% of the article. Include design, sampling, instruments, procedures, analysis, and ethical approval.
e. Results
15-20% of the article. Present results in narrative form, supported by tables or figures if needed (max 8 tables). Explain data clearly.
f. Discussion
40-60% of the article. Analyze results, compare with theories and previous studies.
g. Conclusion
Summarize findings, answer objectives, and suggest future research if needed.
h. Reference
Use Mendeley/Zotero. Use APA 6th edition format. Books: last 10 years; Journals: last 7 years. Hanging indent format (0.25").
3. Writing Outline
a. Size and Font
Use Arial font as in the template provided.
b. Table
- Typed in single spacing
- Include title and footnotes
- Explain non-standard info in footnotes
- Max 8 tables
c. Picture
- Relevant and supportive
- Clear and high resolution
- Readable labels
- Consistent style
- Referenced in the text
d. Layout
Use A4 paper, margins: top 3 cm, others 2 cm. Arial font, 1.5 spacing, numbered pages.
e. Page
Minimum 8 pages, maximum 16 pages.
f. Reference Writing Examples
Authors are required to use reference management software in writing citations and references. References and citations use parenthetical citations (last name, year). Use the American Psychological Association 6th edition to create citations. Please see the reference writing example below:
